SWITCH Seminar

This event is open to all sex workers and focuses on practical, accessible legal education. Attendees will learn their rights under the First, Fourth, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendments, including how those rights apply in real-world encounters.

The topics planned to be presented include: 

  • Dual federalism and how it affects your legal rights as a sex worker

  • Stalking, harassment, and False Imprisonment in the state of New York

  • First, Fourth, and Fifth Amendment rights

  • What to do if your club gets raided

  • What to do if you are under arrest

  • The role, capabilities, and limitations of police and district attorneys

  • How each District Attorney in the 5 boroughs in NYC deal with prostituiton

  • How to break down the elements of a criminal statute

  • Contingency agreements 

  • The EFAA

  • Common (illegal) scams affecting sex workers 

  • Defining sex trafficking

  • Recording laws (specific to NY)

  • The difference between criminal prosecution and seeking a civil remedy

  • Attorney/Client privilege

  • Protecting your private information
